Enkidu, Opening Your Eyes, is an international Queer project that started in April, 2002. We are now conducting our Annual Fund Raising Campaign:  Solidarity 2003. Our headquarters are both located in Mexico City and in Frankfurt –for the web development and publication of the Magazine-. While in Mexico City Enkidu is encouraging local businesses to join and support our efforts, nevertheless, Mexico has a minimum wage of around € 5.00 (5 USD) a day, and the critical economical situation makes it hard for any Non Governmental Organisation, especially for a Non Profit one, to get resources to continue our activities.

Enkidu needs your help in order to continue our commitment: Quality of Information and Quick Response in cases of need.

Enkidu is entirely produced by a small team of dedicated contributors and volunteers sharing a vision, an ambition, and the idea that knowledge and information should be available and accessible to all. We need your support -moral and financial.- People like you, from around the world, who consider that our efforts are worthwhile and that our voice should continue to be heard, inform and educate people globally.

Contributions to Enkidu will be used both to support the resources and infrastructure necessary to provide and maintain this free source of news and information on the Internet, and to cover our daily expenses in connection with the production of the magazine, our outreach activities and cultural initiatives and to develop new writing talent.

Enkidu Magazine & Enkidu Weekly Newsletter are Opening Your Eyes with Information, and expanding in worldwide information, news and content that promotes building bridges among and between the GBLT Communities as well as with those interested in getting to know us. Enkidu has original articles both in Spanish and in English. We cover major aspects of GBLT experience, from Religion to Economy, Human and Civil Rights to Sports, and Health.

Enkidu Magazine promotes constant dialogue and debate and has developed from a news magazine into a bridge between our readers and the authorities. Most of our articles are in Spanish because we see a need to break the traditional isolation and particularism of the Spanish speaking mass media and integrate this huge population into the contemporary worldwide debates on GBLT-issues. Our readers have the desire and hunger to get in touch with them and Enkidu is the only Spanish on-line source that covers and follows the topics, debates and news in this language from a Queer perspective. In the light of this, Enkidu fills an important niche in the international Spanish speaking media landscape.

Enkidu Travel & Mexico From Behind are opening Your Eyes while Traveling. This is our way of being a traveling aid for GLBT people coming from inland Mexico as well as from abroad to Mexico City. As any other super-concentration of human life, Mexico City is packed with stories, from the most humorous to the frightening for tourists in general and for GLBT tourists in particular. Enkidu Travel & Mexico From Behind are sources of advice, debate, support and encouragement to visitors to this city and its GBLT-scene, offering an opportunity  to get to know - from - behind the realities and myths of Mexico and Mexicans.

BeerBear & Bacchus Lounge is Enkidu’s way of Opening Your Eyes with pleasure. This is one of our outreach activities, addressing men who have sex with other men. In Enkidu’s experience, Mexico’s male population distances itself from activities that are generally felt as political and civic activism. Our way of Opening Their Eyes is by sponsoring meetings and events that include openly sexual activities, where the use of condoms and other safe-sex practices are both promoted and encouraged in a positive, respectful and secure environment without moralisation.

Enkidu Cultural Centre, Opens Your Eyes in Mexico with queer events: Enkidu´s early XX Century Mexico City Headquarters is the centre of most of our activities, from our language immersion courses, to the BearBear activities, from the planning and implementation of Enkidu Travel Tours to the X Anniversary Lunch of Grupo Palomilla Gay.

Enkidu, Opening Your Eyes, needs your support to reach our goals: Being the best Spanish-language way of building bridges, and breaking silences, among and between the GBLT Communities and the population & authorities.

Enkidu is committed to continue its current activities, and we invite you to join our efforts:

·        Enkidu Magazine & Enkidu Newsletter reaches Spanish Speaking people in search for a reliable source of information, and is a tool for our readership regarding Health issues, Human and Civil Rights among other topics.

·        Enkidu Travel & Mexico From Behind reaches major audiences, both in Spanish as well as in other languages, regarding Mexico City and its surrounding areas.

·        BeerBear & Bacchus Lounge, believes that promotion, dialogue and practice of safe sex is a sure way to reach most males regardless of sexual orientation.

·        Enkidu Cultural Centre, is our Mexico City headquarters, and the base for Enkidu´s outreach activities. We are in the process of remodelling and providing adequate infrastructure for this early XX Century Building.

Enkidu near future goals are:

·        To get the official registration as a Non Profit Organization (Asociación Civil) in Mexico.

·        To pay a domain in the web.

Enkidu medium term goals are:

·        To buy the early XX Century Enkidu Mexico Offices’ Building.

·        To build a Retirement Home for GLBT seniors –from Mexico and Worldwide persons.

Enkidu invites you to visit us. Whether in person [Juan Escutia 23-Bis, Col. Niños Heroes, Mexico City] or via-internet http://enkidu.netfirms.com and join our “Solidarity 2003” Fundraising Campaign. Your support, moral and economic, is needed.
