How to get around in the conference location and how to find your session

The main building complex of the National University of Pedagogy is a monumental, yet compact structure surrounded by other heavy cultural institutions on all sides. The building complex (erected in 1978)  has incorporated several elements that might resemble pre-Hispanic Central Mexican architecture in its use of the space. All the buildings are connected with a labyrinth of bridges, stairways and patios surrounding the Central Patio which is frequently used as an open air auditorium for cultural and academic events. During the conference "Testimonial Texts", the monumental Central Patio will be the location of art exhibitions by local and international artists, experimental theater performances and concerts.
All conference sessions and other related events will be held in spaces surrounding the Central Patio that has the name La Explanada Central, with the exception of the keynote speeches every morning at 10:00 that will be held in the Auditorium of El Colegio de México, which is located next to the UPN.

Most conference sessions will be held in Auditorium C and Auditorium D of the UPN, with the exception of the 1st of June, when there will be no parallel sessions, only plenary sessions that will be held in Auditorium A, which also is easily accessible from the Explanada Central

In the afternoon of the 1st of June, a number of panel sessions will also be held in "Sala Audiovisual 3" of the Library Gregorio Torres Quintero.
After entering the main gate of the University, you will see this central passage with a stairway.  To get to the conference, you must walk straight ahead following this passage and walk up the stairs until you reach La Explanada Central.
You know that you have reached the Explanada Central when you see this wall. When you have arrived here, you will already see the banner of the conference, as well as the registration tables.
To your right you will see the library main entrance, where you can also buy snacks, candy and refreshments from ambulant vendors that set up their tables here from the early morning on.
To your left you will see this view. From Tuesday 30th of May 2006, this will be where the registration tables and conference related  information stands will be located.
When you have arrived here, you will already be in the middle of the conference and there will no further possibilities to loose your path. If you walk up the stairs, you will immediately  find Auditorium C and Auditorium D at your right.
This is the entrance to Auditorium C and D seen from the south. In this area there will also be information stands by various institutions, organizations and publishers as well as art exhibitions.
If you continue down the passage after the auditoria, the walls will turn red. Here you will find the University Book Store (La Libreria, which means bookstore and NOT library...) In a show case at the entrance recent publications by faculty and staff at the UPN is presented.
For the time being, one conference delegate, Sandra Cantoral, has her book on display here:
Cantoral Uriza, Sandra. La identidad cultural en la educación básica / Sandra Cantoral Uriza. -- México : UPN, 2000. - 160 p. ; 22 cm. -- (Colección Textos ; 15) - 378.007/T355/15
After the book store, you will find the entrance to the offices of the "Sindicato Académico de la UPN" where you usually will find someone of the conference organisers before and during the conference. If you have any questions about anything, you will usually find someone here that can help you.
