The
aim of this paper is to present the experience of clinical
supervision given to 4 trainees of psychology who work
with people that look for assistance at a Center for Human
Rights of LGBT population. From there, some are referred
to the Clinical Center of the State University of São
Paulo (UNESP) at Assis, São Paulo, Brazil.
The
majority of people who look for treatment complains of
sexual and/or sentimental dissatisfaction, and many of
them are victims of homophobic attacks. In this specific
case, these are Gay and/or Lesbian people whose suffering
is due to uncountable stigmatization processes mainly,
produced at their family, school and/or at work. Our
methodological perspective is based upon Lacanian
orientation broadly supported by Gender/Queer Studies
contributions.
We
consider the social/historical construction of gender
identity as our theoretical/practical references. They are
related to the production of machismo, sexism, compulsory
heteronormativity and homophobia. These theorethical and
practical approaches are important paths in the direction
of the treatment and understanding of the production of
patients’ suffering. We have noticed that Gender/Queer
perspectives of the clinical treatment have reinforced the
interest of patients and helped them to produce new lines
of scape from the symptomatic repetition, and/or the
capitalistic imprisonment and control of drive, sexuality
and desire.
The
ending of the treatment has been thought in terms of the
maintenance of a singular state of wish-fullness. Such
state, from our point of view, is fundamental to the
questioning and (de)construction of sexual identity and
search for Rights and Citizenship.
