Agustin Villalpando: What is your opinion about Women´s Day?
– ¿Cuál es tu
opinión sobre el Día Internacional de la Mujer?
Lucila Parga: For me it is very important to
remember because in this moment we have a government that is from the
right and it is working against the times, so it is very important to
remember this day in oposition to the „Day of the Family“. The Day of
Women is not about giving flowers or presents to women. It is a day of
protest, rebellion, because we need to have good education, good works,
good salaries and rights, so we don´t lose the importance of this day as
many women have lost their lives fighting for our rights.
We must educate and show the discrimination. In
Mexico when you ask the people if they are discriminated, they do not
perceive the discrimination towards women. We have a lot of discrimination
in so different forms, from religion to social class, and we need to
resist the pressure of the right against this day and keep this day as the
symbol of the fight and as the symbol of the gender fight.
[Para mí es muy importante recordarlo porque en
este momento tenemos un gobierno que es de derecha y que está trabajando
contra corriente, así que es muy importante recordar este día en oposición
al „Día de la Familia“. El Día Internacional de la Mujer no es un día
para dar flores o regalos a las mujeres. Es un día de protesta, de rebelión,
pues tenemos la necesidad de recibir buena educación, buenos trabajos,
buenos salarios y derechos, a fin de no perder la importancia de este día,
pues muchas mujeres han perdido sus vidas en la lucha por nestros derechos.
Debemos educar y mostrar la discriminación. En México,
cuando preguntas a la gente si es discriminada, ellos no perciben la
discriminación a las mujeres. Tenemos mucha discriminación en muchas
maneras diferentes, desde la que se basa en la religión a la basada en la
clase social y además, necesitamos resistir la presión de la derecha
contra este día y mantener este día como el símbolo de la lucha y como
el símbolo de la lucha de género.]
If you have an educated population, it is possible
to change the values. We will be able to work in other forms and have
other forms of relations among people. If you do not change the children,
then when they are grown ups they preserve the values. The idea is to have
an integral change of values in the war against discrimination.
We all suffer discrimination and we have
discrimination in this country so we must combat it and abolish it. How do
you do that? Only with education, so it is very important to educate about
this. Nowadays the governments only use the media but in reality they are
not truely acting in the society as a whole.
Boys and girls must recognize that they are
different and we do not want to be the same, as we are not, we must be
recognized as different and from there we must be able to work together,
from the differences grow and build a democratic society with social
justice. We must first recognize the differences both about genders and
about diversities.
[Si tienes una población educada, es posible
cambiar los valores. Podremos trabajar en otras formas y tener otras
formas de relacionarnos entre las personas. Si tu no cambias a los niño,
entonces cuando son adultos, ellos preservan los valores. La idea es tener
un cambio integral de valores en la lucha contra la discriminación.
Todos sufrimos discriminación y tenemos
discriminación en este país, misma que debemos combatir y abolir. ¿Cómo
hacemos eso? Sólo con educación, de manera que es muy importante educar
sobre el asunto. Ahora, en realidad, los gobiernos sólo usan a los medios
masivos de comunicación cuando en realidad ellos no están actuando en la
sociedad como un todo.
Los niños
y las niñas deben
reconocer que son diferentes y no queremos que se nos reconozca como lo
mismo, pues no lo somos, demos ser reconocidos como diferentes y desde ahí
debemos poder trabajar juntos; desde las diferencias crecer y construir
una sociedad democrática con justicia social. Debemos primero, reconocer
las diferencias tanto relacionadas con el género como con las
diversidades.]
